B,B,B, & B (Part Whatever...)

At this point, this is all starting to feel like old news.

The friend who posted the original question has made it clear that she has no interest in what I have to say, and will no longer read this blog.

So fine.

So, a quick summation...

"Papa John" offered a half-assed apology and a major back pedal on his position on "Obamacare" on the Huffington post. Feel free to look it up.

Wal-Mart heir, Alice Walton, posted a press release standing with striking Wal-Mart workers.

Cynical PR move? Or, an admission of a clueless disconnect from the "little people" who have made her wealthy? We may never know.

Hostess shuts down business. Blames the baker's union. Gives multi-million dollar bonuses to their upper level suits while filing  bankruptcy. Hostess owners, hedge fund, corporate raiders, aka "Vulture Capitalists" sell off assets while putting thousands our of work. They don't care. They made their millions.

Costco thrives while paying their employees a living wage and health benefits, and the CEO takes no more than half a million dollars in compensation. Proving that capitalism works if ethics are included in the mix.

You can fact check all of this with a few minutes on Google.

The Blog is too fucking over it to do your homework for you.

Go! Learn! Have fun!

The Blog will be back tomorrow with the post that he has waited almost a year to write. Be here when The Blog rants about the so called "War on Christmas!"

See you then!

  1. Excellent blog... sad you're friend is too closed minded to listen... she also seemed IMHO very selfish and caught up in her own "little" world and therefore just like the CEOs at these companies.. I'll never buy at these places that's for sure if I can help it... I may be just one person but I can make a choice that makes a small difference..

    1. I'm actually not too "closed minded to listen", thanks. I am more than happy to listen to the words of people who know what they're talking about. The Bible says A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. And for the record, I'm not caught up in my own "little" world. I work for a big company and am fully aware that the little man gets screwed. Not all CEOs are like this, though. I do think workers should have health care. I also think people need to realize that just because a CEO donates to charity doesn't just mean he wants a tax break. Why can't the rich be charitable without that excuse? Oh, well. I just wanted to set the record straight on what his "friend" thought.

    2. Don't be too hard on her, T. She is young and hasn't been battered and embittered by the "job creators" for as long as we have. She is a nice young lady and we agree on much. Just not politics.

Amelia, your Bible quote is very good! But, I want to point out that I never said that "all" CEOs are bad. In fact, I gave two examples of very prominent CEOs who stand as proof that companies can thrive and profit without treating their employees badly. And I know, first hand, that the rich can be charitable for purely altruistic reasons. But, that doesn't change the fact that most major companies set up philanthropic foundations primarily for the purpose of tax breaks and public relations. So, in my opinion, it doesn't mean much if companies give to charity while treating their employees badly.

By the way, I read a disturbing story in one of our local newspapers yesterday about the shabby way your employer treated a local, long time employee. To be fair, it may have been a local, middle management, bureaucratic screw up. (And, I hope it was.) And, I'm guessing that that will be the official story when they hire her back at full pay and seniority, (Which, I hope they do,) once the bad publicity catches up to them.

But, seriously. This awful story aside... $10 an hour and no health benefits after 20 years with the company? That's just shameful!

    3. By the way...

Thanks to both of you for posting your comments in the comment section! I wish more readers would!

And, Amelia. I'm glad you are still reading, here. Even if you don't always like what I have to say.

  2. Funny how people can talk down about people they don't even know. Isn't it funny how people try to act like they know a complete stranger's situation? Are you laughing yet? Neither am I.

    1. You are right. But, that is the nature of the "internets."

But, I made the effort to tell my friend "T" to back off. I did not side with "the stranger."

Am I laughing? No. I'm not. I stood up for you. Because, that is what we do.

      Does that point sound familiar?
